Our Department of Zoology conducted its Annual Student’s Seminar on 14th of January, 2012. The topic chosen was, “Exploiting Drug-Disease Relationship in Pathological Disorders”. The Chief Guest for the seminar was Prof. Joydeb Pal, from the Dept. of Zoology, University of North Bengal. Prof. Pal delivered a special lecture on, “Pathogenesis of Microorganisms”. His insightful lecture was greatly appreciated by the students and the faculty members alike.

Students belonging to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year batches had formed themselves into groups under the guidance and supervision of the faculty members to prepare papers on relevant aspects on the chosen topic. They presented six well-researched papers on the following aspects: i) Viral and Human contribution to Oral Cancer, ii) Antivenin-Preparation and a mechanistic approach to its function, iii) Heminth related pathological disorders and its therapy with special reference to Fasciola, Taenia and Planaria, iv) Aspirin: Synthesis and Drug action mechanism; an overview, v) Microbial biopesticides controlling rhizosphere inhabiting fungal phytopathogens, vi) Chikungunya: An emerging epidemic and its control.
Our students organized the seminar with utmost sincerity and days of hard work, incorporating in their final presentation logistics such as power point, graph, chart, diagrams and photographs.
